Meet Becky
I believe in Interim Ministry.
But after years of doing this work embedded in congregations, I came to realize two things that inspired me to create a new approach to the work. First, I discovered that too easily the day to day work of the congregation pushed the vital interim work to the back seat which made the interim process take much longer to complete. This created unnecessary frustration and often drained the congregation’s energy for the work of transition. Second, and perhaps most importantly, I realized there are too many congregations that cannot find or cannot afford a full time Intentional Interim Minister to lead them through the wilderness of interim transition.
This is why I created my Congregational Discovery Process - to bring the tools and resources of transition to congregations in a more responsive, creative and flexible way.
Yet I still believe in Interim Ministry.
I believe that successful congregations pause in between pastors to reassess, to re-vision, and sometimes to heal. While it is natural for congregations to want to “get on with it” and begin a pastoral search, in my experience, doing so removes from the congregation one of the most significant opportunities for growth as a community of faith. And a hurried search too often results in a poor match that leads the congregation into yet another pastoral search much too soon.
This Discovery Process allows us to separate the interim work from the pastoral and administrative work of the congregation so that together we can focus more clearly on the issues of your interim situation. Utilizing in person meetings, video conferencing, and coaching, I will lead your community of faith through the questions, discussions, and discovery necessary to move your congregation forward.
